So, my re-read, "13 Reasons Why", I completely recommend. Some reg flags for suicide are described throughout the book, which is obviously a plus for a professional in the field of teenages in general. It's a tough and heavy subject and this book brings light to the emotion in it in a very serious way, but also gives a circumstance that helps the reader cope. Very fast, exciting read that is difficult to put down for sure! I could probably read it over and over (hence the re-read!).
I would not teach this book because of the intensity of the issue, but for my mature students that are looking for a good read, especially about this subject, I would recommend it to. Some of the material is incredibly descriptive and would be really useful for use in the classroom with that sort of activity. I definitely won't forget how the narrator's feelings are described and the immense detail that goes into that, it's really awesome. So definitely a tool, but not that basis for any lessons. Also, it's from a male perspective, and is done well with that, so that was different and outstanding. Very cool book!
